Screen DLP Buyer's Guide 2026: Do You Need It and Which Solution Fits?

Screen DLP is a new security category. If you're evaluating it for the first time, two questions matter before anything else: do you already have a DLP solution, and what specific threats are you trying to address? The answers determine which path makes sense for your organization — and whether you need ScreenStop, Zecurion, both, or neither.

Step 1: Do You Already Have a DLP Solution?

YES — I have Symantec DLP, Microsoft Purview, Forcepoint, or similar

You are not replacing your existing DLP. Traditional endpoint DLP covers digital data flows — copy, paste, print, email, cloud upload. It does its job well. What it cannot do is detect a phone camera pointed at your screen, a colleague reading over your shoulder, or sensitive data left visible on an unattended workstation. These threats leave no digital trace. Your existing DLP will never see them.

Screen DLP is an additional layer — like adding a body scanner at an airport that already has luggage screening. Both run in parallel. Neither replaces the other. See why traditional DLP misses this gap →

If this is your situation, ScreenStop is the right fit: a purpose-built Screen DLP agent that sits alongside your existing investment.

NO — I don't have a DLP solution yet

If you have no DLP at all, you have a broader decision to make. First ask: do you need a full DLP platform covering email, cloud, network, and endpoint — or do you specifically need protection against visual threats at the screen layer? The answer determines whether you need a full DLP suite, a Screen DLP product, or both. Continue to Step 2.

Step 2: What Are You Protecting Against?

If you have no existing DLP, or if your existing DLP doesn't cover the screen layer, this question narrows your options.

📱 Visual threats only (phone cameras, shoulder surfing, unattended screens)

You need Screen DLP. This is a focused category — purpose-built to address optical data exfiltration. Two vendors exist in this space: Zecurion and ScreenStop. Continue to Step 3.

🔒 Full digital DLP (email, cloud, network, endpoint) + visual threats

You need a full DLP platform that includes screen protection. Zecurion offers this as a bundled suite. Note: their screen camera detection is a feature inside a larger platform — you purchase the full Zecurion DLP suite to get it. Evaluate whether you need the full suite or just the screen layer.

📂 Full digital DLP only — no screen threats identified

Traditional DLP vendors cover this well: Symantec, Forcepoint, Microsoft Purview, Digital Guardian, Trellix. Screen DLP is not your immediate priority. Revisit when visual threats become a concern — they are growing as workforces become more distributed.

Step 3: Zecurion or ScreenStop?

Both Zecurion and ScreenStop detect phone cameras pointed at screens. Both use on-device processing. Choosing between them comes down to three questions.

Question 1: Is your organization subject to Russian vendor restrictions?

Zecurion is a Russian-headquartered software vendor. Under the EU's 20th sanctions package (April 2026) and US export control frameworks, procurement of Russian enterprise software carries compliance and reputational risk for organizations in financial services, healthcare, government, and defense. If your legal or procurement team has flagged Russian vendor risk — or if your industry requires vendor domicile review — Zecurion may not clear your procurement process. ScreenStop is incorporated in Israel, an EU and US ally, with no sanctions exposure.

Question 2: Do you need only phone camera detection, or the full visual threat surface?

Zecurion's screen protection focuses on phone camera detection. ScreenStop covers the full visual threat surface:

Capability Zecurion ScreenStop
Phone camera detection
Shoulder surfing detection
Unattended screen protection
Continuous authentication
Silent Mode (log-only deployment)
Purpose-built Screen DLP (no platform required)❌ Suite only
Western vendor — no sanctions exposure

Question 3: Do you need a full DLP suite or just the screen layer?

Zecurion's camera detection is bundled inside their full DLP platform. To get screen protection, you buy the entire suite — email DLP, network DLP, endpoint DLP, and screen DLP together. If you already have a DLP platform and need only the screen layer, you would be paying for capabilities you already have.

ScreenStop is purpose-built for Screen DLP only. No platform, no bundled modules, no licensing for what you don't need.
